Obituary of Eldon Black

The peaceful passing of Eldon “Ned” Murray Black of Boiestown, NB to his heavenly home, occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home surrounded by his loving and forever grateful family. Born 100 years ago on April 13, 1917, he was the son of the late Hugh and Alice (Munn) Black. Ned was a member of the Boiestown United Church. He was a well known and respected woods contractor for over 70 years and employed many men in the area. Much of his work involved horses and he could remember the names of over 200 horses that he had owned. Besides caring for his horses and men, he loved to operate his bulldozers. He never worried about his problems and always said that he left his troubles in his boots outside the door. He was a knowledgeable and kind person, was respected and respective to others, mild mannered and dearly loved his family and friends. He was a community minded person, spent many years as a member of the Northumberland Woodlot Association and was always ready and willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He had a short stay at the Boiestown Nursing Home and made many friends with both residents and staff alike. Ned is survived by one son, Manley Black (Norma) of Boiestown, NB; six daughters, Shirley Spencer (Merrill) of Taxis River, NB, Ellen Gilker (Brian), Florence Wilson, Zona Ross (Merle) all of Boiestown, NB, Ina Pond (Greg) of Porter Cove, NB and Lana Munn (Dale) of Annapolis Royal, NS; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Audrey; four sisters, Agnes (Lawrence), Irene, Connie (Joe) and Noreen; sisters-in-law, Betty, Edith and Josephine; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ned was predeceased by his loving wife Isabelle (Norrad); one daughter, Phyllis Elaine; five brothers, Manley, Hedley, Laurie, Hugh and his twin Harry; sisters, Sadie and Leola. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
