Obituary of Lorne Seeley
Lorne Robert Seeley of Nashwaak Village, NB passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at home. Born on May 30, 1937 in Hartland, NB, he was the son of the late Robert and Jean (Johnston) Seeley. Lorne will be remembered for his positive attitude even when faced with failing health. Lorne attended Stanley Regional High School, and left to begin work with Albert Folkins, proprietor of Canadian Tire Store, Upper Queen Street, where he worked for 10 plus years, at that time, he was already involved in the sale of used cars, and salvage business in Durham, which kept him alive and busy until his final illness. Lorne could drive anything with a motor, from a Triump sports car to pulp trucks to bulldozers. He loved that “fellowship” with vehicles and the friends he made through that business. He also loved fishing, hunting, expeditions on snowmobiles, ATV”s and motorbikes. He loved his children and all the pets they continued to adopt. He enjoyed being cub master to a group of loyal cub scouts. He was affiliated with the Nashwaak Centennial United Church, and a member of the Nashwaakis Lions Club.
Lorne was predeceased by a son, Michael. Lorne will be missed by his children, Dawna Gilbert (Jim), Rod Seeley (Pam),Velma Seeley (Dave), Andy Seeley (Sheila), Lorne Jr. Seeley (Aimee), Tom Seeley, Jessica Seeley (Jason) and Harry Seeley (Sherry); 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Lester Seeley (Brenda), Phyllis Schwartz (John) and Mavis Ross (Gus); several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Lorne’s requests there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Yvette Swan officiating. Interment will be at Nashwaak Centennial Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Nashwaak Centennial United Church and would be greatly appreciated.
A very special thank you for the wonderful care of Lorne to Dr. Beal, Dr. Raza, Dr. Swan, Dr. Broad, Dr. Gillis-Doyle, Dr. Horst, Dr. Mohiuddin; the Nurses and Staff of the Oncology Unit for their care and compassion, Extra Mural Nurse's and Theresa Seeley making it possible to have Lorne’s wishes met to pass gracefully at home, surrounded by his family.
