My Deepest Condolences to Mark's Family, I met Brian Hunting Moose in 98, but I never had the pleasure of meeting any other family members. My very first Moose Hunt was while I was staying at Mark's cabin in Boiestown. I had applied for the wrong zone and found myself without a place to stay! As soon as Mark heard what I did, after a 20 minute phone call...he offered up his camp and his 4 wheeler without thinking! That's just the kind of guy he was. Help anyone, give you the shirt off his back!
From the prison, We lost a True Blue Warrior! Mark (Slick) MacKay was one of the longest serving members in his time with The Institutional Emergency Response Team. A better "Shield Man" was few and far. Mark worked his entire career in Segregation with Some of the most difficult inmates in Canada! He had the Gift to Gab! Often what only needed to be a 2 minute phone call, could easily last 20 minutes. Every Training session with the IERT, I was bunked with Mark, we were both "Competition Ready" for Snoring and we didn't wake each other up! :) , and if he was your partner walking the ranges, you had little to fear. I know you will be protecting us from above old friend, and thank you for your service!
Rest in Peace Slick. Until we meet again.
