Obituary of Dorothy McNeil

December 5, 1924 – October 31, 2017 Mom passed peacefully at the age of 92 with her daughter Susan by her side, at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born and raised in Holtville, NB, she was the daughter of Everett and Bernice (McKay) Black. Mom served in the RCAF for three years during WWII, she worked for Ashley Colter and then as a legal secretary at various law firms in Fredericton, finally retiring from the law firm of John Warner QC at the age of 70 years. Dot is survived by her children, Wanda Hargrove, Susan Young (Terry) and Patrick McNeil (Elsie); grandchildren, Jeff Young (Amy), Ryan Young (Samantha), Maggie Young, Darcey McNeil (Alena Chumakova), Veronica Richard, Ashlee Phillips (Kyle), Jennifer Haddad (Simon), Michael Hargrove, Victoria Gesner (Chris Pelletier); great grandchildren, Anna Hay (Brian Virtue), Amelia Hay (Alex Pannier), Lachlan Hay, Brendan LeBlanc, Randi Mae, Mackenzie and Esme Richard, William and Sophie McNeil, Ava Young and Kassidy Phillips; step grandchildren, Riley Paul (Kayla), Zachary Paul and Denver McAllister; brothers, Everett Black (Wanda) and George Black (Mary Ellen); sister-in-law, Euphemia Black; several nieces and nephews; always cherished in-laws, James Hay, Pam Mercier and Greg Hargrove; chosen daughter, Angela Allt, and Mom’s Nashwaak Villa Family who frequently indulged her love for a cup of tea. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Crumley “Crum” McNeil; daughter, Kathy McNeil; sisters, Zola Fowler, Zella “Toots” Cameron, Jeanne Wilson and infants, Emma and Mary Black; brothers, Elwood and Alvin Black and infants, Elmer and Donald Black; grandchildren, Terrance Jr. and Holly Young. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11am with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in St. Joachim’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Boiestown, NB on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 3:40 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaak Villa-Wheelchair Assessable Bus Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
