Obituary of Tennyson Carson

With the love of his family at his side, Tennyson Franklin Carson of Fredericton (originally of Ludlow, NB) passed away on Thursday October 19, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a bravely fought year-long illness. Born on July 20th, 1939, Tenny was the eldest son of Daisy (Price) and David Carson of Ludlow, NB. Tenny is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Linda (Dragatis) Carson; his beloved children, David (Rian) Carson and Chris Carson. He was Papa to grandsons, Ethan and Luke, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Marley. He is also survived by his sister and best friend, Hattie (Honey) Hamilton and her children Traci and Sean; as well as his brother Donald (Marg) Carson and Don’s children Joeley and Jon. Tenny was adored by his nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends near and far. Tenny is pre-deceased by his parents; his mother-in-law, Jean Dragatis; and two brothers-in-law, Jim and Wilfred Dragatis. While teaching was his initial profession, Tenny had a life-long career in the car sales business, spending 30 plus years at Riverview Ford in Fredericton. Although he held family first, Tenny’s ‘second loves’ were hockey (a long time proud Leafs fan), cooking, fishing, travelling and Bayside NB, not necessarily in that order. He spent many years toting his boys to and from hockey rinks, helping out with many of the boys’ teams over the years. He adored cooking for family and friends. It was common for him to spend a whole day tending to his smoker as he prepared smoked salmon, wings and anything else he could fit in. Tenny loved spending winters with Linda in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he’d fish off the docks for hours. For the past 15 years, Tenny and Linda summered in Bayside, New Brunswick, just outside St. Andrews, where they loved their view of the St. Croix and the friendship of their neighbours, including life long friends Gerry and Joan Travis and many special visitors, notably their annual summer visit from Larry and Peggy Nolan. Deepest gratitude goes to Dr. Tom Barry, for the kindest end-of-life care; as well as to Dr. Elizabeth Zed; Extra Mural Nurse Kelly Morrow of St. Stephen; and DERCH nurses of 3 southwest for the respect showed to Tenny in his final hours. At Tenny’s request, no funeral or visitation will be held. For this who wish, donations can be made to the Fredericton SPCA. A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at David Carson’s home, 64 Piercy Crescent, in Lincoln Heights, Fredericton NB, on Saturday October 28th from 2-4 p.m. Personal condolence may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
