Obituary of Beatrice Short

Surrounded by her loving family, the passing of Beatrice Ann Short of Doaktown, NB, occurred on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Fredericton Hospice House. Born on November 21, 1940 in Long Reach, NB she was the daughter of the late Hampden Cranbrook Nichols and Eileen Marjorie (Collings) Nichols. She graduated from MacDonald Consolidated School in Kingston, NB. During her career, she worked in the banking industry, NB Tel and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, retiring in 1993. Bea’s passions were cooking, painting, and her love of both dogs and horses. She served as a scout leader; was a member of the Telephone Pioneers; she also volunteered and was a member of the Atlantic Salmon Museum, Doaktown, NB. Bea was a member of St. Thomas United Church and the UCW in Doaktown, NB. In addition to her husband of 37 years, Reginald Short, Bea is survived by her daughters, Bonnie MacLeod Riley and Heather MacLeod Williams; she also leaves to mourn six grandchildren and the joys of her life, her great grandchildren, Anna Hill, Paisley Drake and Daxton Doyle; two nieces and numerous cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her only brother, Clement “Bordie” Bordman Nichols. Although there will be no visitation; a Celebration of Life will take place at St. Thomas United Church, Doaktown, NB on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Paul McGrattan and Pastor Brian Curtis officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Fredericton Hospice, Fredericton SPCA, St. Thomas United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
