Obituary of Paul Cote

Coté, Paul Burton It is with broken hearts that the family of Paul Burton Coté announce his passing at the D.E.C.R.H. on Monday, October 16, 2017. Paul was born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, on June 19, 1948 to the late Arnold and Viola (MacLean) Coté. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Sharon and their children; Tammy (Thomas) May, Joe Coté, Darren (Erin) Hansen, Amy (Jeff) Stewart, Laurie (Josh) Burcham. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren who loved their Papa dearly: Sean, Avery, Abbie, Amber, Alia, Elise, Olivia, Dawson, Lucas, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Alexander. Paul will be missed by his four brothers Ray (Nancy), André (Sandra), Daryl (Sandra) and David (Jeanette) and his sister Collette. He is also loved by his brother-in-law Bob Agnew and his sister and brother-in-law Flemming and Lorie Nielsen. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Colleen and Noel as well as two infant siblings Michelle and Garfield. Paul was a proud member of the Fredericton Fire Department for 25 years and retired as Captain in 1998. He enjoyed his time with the Retired Fire Fighters Association, especially the monthly breakfast. Paul’s claim to fame were his famous Paul’s Cookie Company which he sold for many years at the Farmers Market. Paul’s hobby was volunteering and this took many forms: The Kettle at Christmas, Pine Grove Nursing Home, Blood Donor Clinics, Vial of Life and especially at our church of where he volunteered endlessly. He cherished his many friendships and could be counted on at any time to lend a hand. Above all else, his family was his pride and joy!! Time spent with his children and grandchildren were cherished by all. He will be dearly missed!! Paul’s family would like to thank Dr. MacDonald and his team of doctors that took such excellent care of their loved one. They would also like to thank the palliative care staff on 3E for their compassionate care. In keeping with Paul’s wishes there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 75 Main St, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. Donations in Paul’s name may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church Building Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
