Obituary of Shirlie Curtis

The passing of Shirlie Elwood Curtis of Lakeville Corner, NB, husband of Anne (Sowers) Curtis occurred on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 6, 1928 in Blackville, NB, he was the son of Moses and May (Sullivan) Curtis. He was a mechanic. Shirlie enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Shirlie is survived by his daughters, Marie Blunston and Barbara McIntyre (Perry); sons, Gerry and Richard “Ricky” Curtis (Luis); grandchildren, Chris, Cheryl, Jason, Nicole and Barbara; great grandchildren; half sisters, Violet MacLaughlin, Annie Daley, Viola Peterson, Jean Vanstone and Elsie Hoeppner (Don); half brothers, John Warren (Theresa), Larry Warren, Dale Warren (Kim) and Donald Parent (Ann); several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and wonderful mother of his children, Leona (Arbeau) Curtis; partner of 20 years, Beryla Wilkins; sons, infant Michael and Bobby Curtis; sisters, Stella Johnston, Esther MacDonald, Melissa Elliot and Lena Hayes; brothers, Hayward Wilson, Lyman, Henry, Emerson “Dick” and Lindsay Curtis; half sister, Ruth Allen; half brothers, Ronald, Charles and Phillip Parent. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 12-2 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2 pm with Rev. Joseph Beesley officiating. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
