Obituary of Alden Braun

The passing of Alden “Clair” Braun of Fredericton, NB, husband of Joyce (Keetch) Braun occurred on Friday, October 6, 2017 at home. Born on February 26, 1939 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Horace and Daisy (Love) Braun. He was a charter member of the Beta Phalanx Club in 1956; coached minor hockey at the Nashwaaksis Arena in the early ‘70’s and was a volunteer fireman for the Village of Nashwaaksis. Clair worked for the Village of Nashwaaksis until they amalgamated; he then worked for the City of Fredericton until his retirement. After, he drove cars for Budget an Enterprise. He enjoyed fishing and hunting; and sometimes fished with his nephew Ron on the Miramichi. Clair and Joyce enjoyed many great spring vacations to various places in the US, Canada and the Caribbean. In addition to his wife, Clair is survived by his two sons, Danny (Andrea) and Jeff (Sandi); grandchildren, Jared, Kelsie, Heather, Nathan and Josh; brother, Harold Braun (Carol); sisters-in-laws, Mavis Braun, Ruth Graham and Muriel DuPlessis; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fowler; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Beatrice Goodwin, Jessie Medel, Patricia Fowler; brother, Glenn Braun; sister-in-law, Violet Keetch; brothers-in-law, Wendell Keetch, Paul DuPlessis, Dawn Graham and Jack Goodwin. Visitation will take place at Smythe Street Cathedral on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 11-1 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 1 pm with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the United Way, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donors’ choice.
