Obituary of Robert Jewett

Jewett, Robert “Bob” It is with indescribable sadness that we advise the passing of an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend Bob (Robert Wilfred) Jewett on September 16, 2017, at the Fredericton Hospice. Born on March 25, 1943, in the City of Fredericton, Bob was the son of the late Wilfred and Hazel (Griffiths) Jewett. He leaves behind his loving wife Judy; daughter Stacey (Peter); son Paul (Cindy), his precious granddaughters Annabelle and Veronica; sister Irene (Doug) Hildebrand; sister Carol (Max) Pond; sister-in-law Ada (Carl) Wood and brother-in-law Charles Steen. He now will be able to reunite with his sister Marie Hallett; brother-in-law Marty Hallett; Nephew Norman Hallet; brother-in-law Eddie Merrithew; Nephew Terry Merrithew and brother-in-law Keith Whittie. Our father was also blessed with a vast number of nieces, nephews and friends. He had many important and strong women throughout his life but the two that made his heart swell with pride and always brought a big smile to his face are his beautiful, kind and loving granddaughters. Our father believed in doing! Thus throughout his life he accomplished and met many personal and professional goals. He was always ready for a challenge, always believed in the human spirit and that there was good and kindness in every soul. Our father was one of the lucky ones for he found the most beautiful, loving, caring, strong willed and giving soul mate, 52 years ago. Together as one, they took on the world through laughter, love and kindness. Our father sadly was stricken with Alzheimer's and for many years fought back at this horrible disease only to be hit with another more vile disease, cancer. No matter how devastating this was for those that loved him, he now knew that he had been set free from his biggest fear, having his memories and sense of self being slowly taken from him. During his final struggle he never forgot anyone, he laughed and kept his sense of humour. He was blessed by living Angels at the Fredericton Hospice, who provided him with love and dignity. “Legacy is not leaving something for people, it’s leaving something in people” (Peter Strople) That Dad… you certainly did. You will be missed for an eternity. Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton, NB on Wednesday September 20th, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 2 pm from Gibson Memorial United Church, 183 Gibson St. Fredericton, NB, with Rev. Brian MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to either the Hospice Fredericton or to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick.
