Obituary of George Campbell
The passing of George Donaldson Campbell of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Georgena (Dorcas) Campbell occurred on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Veteran’s Health Unit. Born on August 6, 1922 in Broxburn, Scotland, he was the son of the late Robert and Jean (Donaldson) Campbell. He was retired from the NB Liquor Corporation. George was a member of the Fredericton Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Masonic Lodge #33 F&AM and the Fredericton Shrine Club. He was formerly a member of the Board of Directors’ Plowman’s Association, St. Andrews Society and the Oromocto Legion Pipe Band.
George is survived by his sisters, Peggy MacKenzie of Maugerville, NB and Helen Loney (Harold) of Nova Scotia; sisters in law, Betty Campbell of Fredericton, NB, Peggy Anderson (Lenwood) of Stanley, NB and Anne Coughlan of Fredericton, NB; special uncle to nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Wilbur, Janet Thibodeau, Mary Hayward, Isabella Lyons and Betty Foster; brothers, James, William, Robert and John Campbell.
A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1 pm with Rev. Canon Elaine Hamilton and Rev. Brian MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in Lower Lincoln Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation, Shriners Hospital for sick children, IWK Hospital or to the CNIB.
