Obituary of Terence Burpee

Life Legacy It is with heavy hearts the family of Terence “Terry” Malcolm Burpee of Keswick Ridge, NB; announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on September 8, 2017 with his girls by his side. Born in Fort Fairfield, ME on May 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert Knowles and Dorena (Sullivan) McGibbon. In addition to his mother, Terry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn (Peterson) Burpee; daughters, Kim Laforest (John) of Scotch Lake, NB, Krista Buell (Steve) of Scotch Settlement, NB and Tammy Deschenes (Luc) of Keswick Ridge, NB; grandchildren, Conner Buell (Emily Boudreau), Carlie Buell and Mathieux Deschenes; siblings, Carolyn Burpee (Bill Sutton), Connie Lagerlöf (Pat), Susan Burpee (Stuart Eccles), David McGibbon (Yuling); mother in law, Jean Peterson; sister in law, Dianne Doucette (Dale); uncle, Allen Sullivan (Mary); several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father, Terry was predeceased by his step father, Lloyd McGibbon; father in law, Walter Peterson; his fur babies, Precious, Max and Missee. Despite various health issues over the years he followed his dream and the Sullivan family tradition by establishing T.M. Burpee Drilling Ltd in 1985 which he built up and ran successfully despite being confined to a wheelchair for over 20 years. He believed in honesty and always said “A handshake is worth 1000 words and without your word you have nothing”. Before his health deteriorated he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sledding and wheeling, usually accompanied by his dog. Family was top priority and many family gatherings took place at dad and mom’s because it was easier for him. He was very proud of his three girls and their families. Funny how growing up it was his mom and three girls, then it was his wife and three girls. He had to wait for grandkids to get a boy; at least he had tom boys in his life to do “Boy things with”. And blessed with one more girl, his one and only granddaughter. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Angela Baker, Dr. Oja and all the doctors and nurses that helped care for him during his various hospital stays as well as the staff at Stan Cassidy Centre. A Memorial Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. A reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Keswick Cemetery, Keswick, NB. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Stan Cassidy Centre or the Canadian Paraplegic Association. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
