Obituary of Marilyn Parlee

The passing of Marilyn Pearl (McLeod) Parlee, of New Maryland, NB, wife of Harold “Allen” Parlee, occurred on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on June 29, 1947 in Penobsquis, NB, she was a daughter of the late George and Pearl (Smith) McLeod. Besides her husband, Marilyn is survived by her sons, Scott Parlee and Shawn Parlee (Tara); two grandchildren, Tyler and Brooklyn Parlee; her sisters, Donna Murray (Edwin) and Kathy Huestis (Andy); her brothers, Wayne (Minnie), Richard (Shirley) and Dale (Janet) McLeod; sisters in law, Betty Green and Darlene Kelly (Austin); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant twin brother, Merle. Marilyn was a member of New Maryland United Church. During Marilyn’s early life she worked in the finance industry. After her oldest son was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, Marilyn left the workforce and devoted her life to caring for Scott at home, where he remains today. She was an active caregiver until her diagnosis in January 2017. Marilyn also babysat and developed lifelong bonds with the children she cared for. Marilyn was actively involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the New Maryland United Church. She enjoyed baking for community events and attending exercise classes. Marilyn also enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and had many close friends and family. A Memorial Service will be held from New Maryland United Church, New Maryland, NB on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 3 pm with Rev. Jane Johnson officiating. Interment will take place in New Maryland United Church Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy of Canada or to the New Maryland United Church building fund.
