Obituary of Joanne Doucette

Doucette, Joanne Passed peacefully in her home on Saturday August 12, 2017 after a challenging battle with COPD. Born in Doaktown, NB and raised in Boiestown, NB, Joanne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was mother to sons, Paul (Christine) of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Leigh (Renee) of Calgary, Alberta and Mark of Salisbury, New Brunswick; grandmother to, Sophie and Remy; sister to, Judy McAloon (John), Grace Trecartin, Patrick Carr (Deb), Barb Hunter (Keith) and Beth Storey (Roger); aunt to lots of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Elaine, father Dick, and her brothers Cork and Max. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, and became quite adept at ceramics, knitting, and growing herbs for her community. Joanne was an avid reader and passionately followed basketball and baseball. In her youth she was known and remembered as an excellent basketball player. She was always curious—reading about current events and debating national politics with enthusiasm. She was ferociously independent, and always a selfless and giving individual who was loved by many and touched the lives of everyone she met who enjoyed her company and sense of humor. In accordance with her last wishes, there will be no visitation or Funeral Service. A small gathering will be shared with family and friends at St. Joachim’s in Boiestown at 12 noon, Friday August 18. Memorial donations can be made to either the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home’s “Van Fund” (Boiestown), the David Suzuki Foundation or the World Wildlife Fund. The family would like to thank all those involved with helping and contributing, not just now, but during her last several years. Personal condolences may be offered through www.miramichivalleyfh.com
