Obituary of Sharon Northorp

The passing of Dr. Sharon Mildred Elizabeth Northorp, of Irishtown, NB, occurred on August 15, 2017 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on March 1, 1959 in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of Zella (Pleadwell) Northorp and the late Gerald Northorp. A graduate of Dalhousie University’s medical school, Dr. Northorp received her certification in family medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2006. Upon completion of her internship at Dalhousie University in 1987, she started her full-time practice with obstetrics services at Moncton Hospital. She was an advocate for community health and an active committee member. Dr. Northorp enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and travelling. Dr. Northorp is survived by her brother, Terry Northorp of Scotch Lake, NB; sisters, Cindy Boone (Keith) of Temperance Vale, NB, Linda Devereaux (Denis) of Waasis, NB, Sandy McArthur (Corey) of Lincoln, NB and Holly Richard (Sean) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 1 to 2 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating. Interment will take place at Scotch Settlement Cemetery. A special thank you to Moncton Oncology, Palliative Care, Moncton Extra Mural and Hospice Fredericton.
