Obituary of Leota Brown

The passing of Leota Burnetta (Carr) Brown, formerly of Doaktown, NB, wife of the late Malcolm Brown, occurred on July 23, 2017 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born on May 31, 1923 in Doaktown, NB, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (Betts) Carr. Leota had retired from the Doaktown Save Easy as a cashier after 30 years of service. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Doaktown Branch # 23. She was also an avid Bingo player. Leota is survived by her daughter, Mona Long (Merle); her son, Malcolm “Dunnor” Brown (Belva); grandchildren, Sherry Beek (Royce), Alisa Brown (Nick); Gary Long (Barb), Jason Long (Tanya) and Malcolm Brown (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Erik and Adam Long, Ethan and Tyler Brown, Hunter Johnson and Bryson Beek; sister, Dorothy Carr; brother, Clinton “Manny” Carr; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Leota was predeceased by her infant son, Gary Jackson; great grandson, Aaron Beek; sister, Viola Carr and her brothers, Floyd, John Jr., Earl, Clayton Carr and Elmer Carr. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #23 and Normandy Branch # 78 are asked to assemble at 6:45 pm for a Tribute Service. A Funeral Service will be held from Doaktown United Baptist Church on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Gary Countway officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Long, Jason Long, Malcolm Brown, Nick Johnson, Colin Storey and Ken Carr. Honourary Pallbearers will be Carmen Brown, Norma Moore, Betty Neess, Ellen Dickison and Elva Vickers. Interment will take place in Doaktown United Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, Doaktown or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
