Obituary of George Goodwin

The family of George Robert Goodwin are saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at York Care Centre, Fredericton NB. George joined the Armed Forces in 1958, also joined the Legion and became President at the McAdam Branch. In later years he worked with Natural Resources and upon retirement joined the Commissionaires. He was a very patient and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. George is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Burton); daughters, Anita Goodwin (Rob) of Australia and Jayne Nevers (Jeff) of Upper Kingsclear, NB; sons, Daniel Goodwin (Joanne) of Kingston, ON and Leslie Goodwin of Fredericton, NB; his grandchildren, Brandon, Bradley (Chantal) and Kelsi Nevers, Cara and Tanner (Brandi) Goodwin and Erik Fraser; his great granddaughters, Lydia and Elena Nevers; sisters, Jessie Andrews (Charles) of Sydney, NS and Phyllis Robertson of London, ON. George was predeceased by his parents, Hattie (Hayward) Simpson and Hugh Goodwin; uncles, Donald and Vincent Goodwin; special aunt, Amelia Goodwin; niece, Ruth Hellyer and nephews, Ian Hellyer and Shaun Andrews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Fredericton Branch #4 are asked to assemble on Sunday, prior to the visitation at 6:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. A Celebration of Life will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Ellen Beairsto and Pastor Normand McDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to York Foundation or to the SPCA and would be greatly appreciated by the family. Personal condolence may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
