Obituary of Edwin O'Donnell
With great sadness and broken hearts, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Edwin Roger O’Donnell passed away on July 7, 2017. Born on September 18, 1955 he was the son of the late Willard and Christina O’Donnell.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Dora Lorraine O’Donnell, the love of his life for the last 44 years; his precious daughter, Marlene Wilkinson (Stephen); “son that he never had” Donald Porter (Elaine); sister, June O’Donnell (Frances); brother, Wendell O’Donnell (Barbara); brother, Allison O’Donnell (Heather); sister, Krista MacNaughton (Ken); special nephew, Randy O’Donnell (Delta); several brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by grandparents, Harry and Clementine O’Donnell, and Johnston and Vina O’Donnell.
Edwin was a member of the St. John Ambulance with over 10,000 volunteer hours then continued on with the Southwest Miramichi Ambulance as a Paramedic when they took over from 1996-2004 until he had an on duty injury. He was a Chapel Warden of St. John Anglican Church for many years. Edwin loved telling stories and spending time with family and friends. Anyone who came into contact with him became a forever friend. Edwin will be forever remembered for his extraordinary sense of humor and for taking on the role as father to a special little girl with lots of needs. Marlene was daddy’s girl.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the same location on July 12, 2017 at 1 pm with Father Kevin Stockall and Pastor David Storey officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Anglican Cemetery.
