Obituary of Kathleen Mercer
Our hearts are broken to announce the sudden passing of our sweet Kathey. It is impossible for us to believe that she slipped away leaving so many people who loved her. Born in Moncton, NB on October 23, 1968, she was the daughter of John Duplacey (Susan) and the late Muriel (Bell) Duplacey.
Kathey’s greatest joy was her three children, Daniel Mercer (Brampton), Dylan Mercer (Shilo) and Kaitlyn Needham (Fredericton), as well as her precious granddaughter, Sophia Mercer who referred to her lovingly as Prammie. She leaves to mourn her fiancé and love, Rob Pinnock as well as his children, Chloe and Jay who were an important part of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Duplacey (Brampton), Tina Duplacey (Fredericton) and Derron Duplacey (Brampton); her step brothers, Jamie Guitar (Fredericton) and Shane Guitar (Fredericton).
Kathey grew up in several parts of New Brunswick, then spent many adult years living in different parts of Ontario, until coming back home to New Brunswick in 2008. Her greatest joy in her life was her children, and later her beloved granddaughter, Sophia. She will be sadly missed by her “McFamily” as she called them from McDonald’s where she was a shift Manager in Oromocto. Kathey was a wonderful ambassador for the Maritime friendliness, which made her loved by everyone including her customers. Her smile and kindness made everyone happy.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 12-1:30pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Pastor Normand McDonald officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. Personal condolence may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
