Obituary of Lloyd McDonald
It is with great sadness, the family of Lloyd (Mac) McDonald announces his peaceful passing at Windsor Court Retirement Residence on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the age of 93.
A loving spouse, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Madeline; grandchildren, Michelle Jardine and Stephen (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Jana Jardine and Luke McDonald. He is also survived by sisters, Gertrude Fowler, Dory Evans, Mary Butler and Betty Tessier (Aurele); and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Ethel (Barton) McDonald; wife, J Enid (Flinn); son, Lloyd (Jr.); as well as brothers, David and George; and sister, Audrey Hanlon.
He was a proud veteran of WW2, serving on the front lines in Europe with the Canadian Infantry.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 6:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Brett Anningson officiating. An interment will be held at Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Windsor Court, Dr. Tom Barry and Dr. Debra Gowan for the extraordinary care given to him over the last few weeks.
