Obituary of Virginia McLean

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Virginia Clare McLean of Fredericton, NB. Known as Clare, her most treasured titles were Sister, Mama and Nana Bear. Born on May 14, 1954 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Virginia (Gailey) Fisher. She joined her beloved parents when she passed on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Clare had a magical personality which was born out in her fanciful stories and clever jokes. Her zest for life ensured that wherever she was, good food, friends and fun quickly followed. She was a true lover of animals and is surely now surrounded by the many cats, dogs and horses she cared for over the years. She had a particular affinity for felines. For her, the most important of which was Aslan of the Narnia books which became a symbol of her strong Christian faith. Family was the fuel which powered Clare's life. She is survived by her adoring children, Darcy McLean (Monica Kurz), Jessica Langille (Brendan) and Geordie McLean (Ashley), Shawn McLean the children's father; grandchildren, Kaylee, Jasper, Lochlan and Sheamus siblings, Michael Fisher (Lucille Denham), Leslie Allan (Stewart) and Mark Fisher (Patty); nieces and nephews, Catherine, Michael, Christopher, Holly, Matthew, Peter, Rebecca, Caitlin, Megan and Kailey. Also left to mourn, Marjorie Long Fisher and Clare's longtime cherished childhood friend, Peggy Doucette Rehaume. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place from All Saints Anglican Church, 169 Canada Street, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 2 pm. Interment will take place in All Saints Anglican Church Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Fredericton SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www. yorkfh.com
