Obituary of Robert Stewart

The passing of Robert “Bob” Bates Stewart of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late V. Jennie (Miner) Stewart occurred on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was born on August 15, 1930 in McNamee, NB the son of the late Vida (Stewart) Whalen. Bob was a mechanic for SMT and City Transit. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church and St. James the Greater Anglican Church. Bob enjoyed music, attending every jamboree that he could, he also enjoyed dancing and gardening. He loved working in the woods and spending time at his camp. Family was very important to him especially spending time with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his daughters, Wenda Lyons (Dale), Sheila O’Hara (Michael), Karen Seymour (Sidney) and Kim Worton (Dan); sons, James (Judy), Kenny, Randy (Betty) and Rickey (Tish); 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Beverley Justason; brother, Eugene Whalen (Dorothy); sister in law, Carolyn Whalen; several nieces; nephews; cousins; brothers and sisters in law and extended family. Besides his mother and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Charles Whalen and maternal grandparents, John and Estella Stewart. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Kevin McAllister and Rev. Canon Kevin Stockall officiating. Interment will take place in St. James the Greater Anglican Cemetery, Ludlow, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. James the Greater Anglican Church, All Saints Anglican Church Marysville or the Chalmers Foundation Palliative Care Unit.
