Obituary of Gary Chapman

Life Legacy The passing of Gary James Chapman of New Maryland, NB, husband of Louise (Arseneault) Chapman occurred on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 25, 1952 in Windsor, ON, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Chapman. Gary graduated from FHS in 1970, UNB with a BEd in 1974 and a BBA in 1977. He worked at the NB Auditor Generals office for two years as an Auditor before becoming a Teacher at Carleton North Senior High School, Bristol, NB from 1977 to 1998, when he retired. During his years as a teacher he taught Accounting, Math, Business and Computers, he volunteered as the Girls Volleyball Coach for ten years, was a Safe Grad organizer for six years, and also volunteered as a Big Brother for three years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his woodland, gardening, stamp and coin collecting, bowling at Kingswood and travelling. Gary’s greatest joy was following his daughters and granddaughters in all their activities. In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughter, Anita Kirkbride (Kevin) of Halifax, NS and their children, Elizabeth and Samantha Hovey, Jaimeson and Shaeleigh Kirkbride; daughter, Shari Tucker of Halifax, NS, and his brother, Dan Chapman (Mona Stapledon) of Fredericton, NB. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 6:30-9 pm. A Private Graveside Service will take place at Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the IWK or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
