Obituary of Ann Fairley

Ann Fairley, 46, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Ann brought joy, love and laughter to everything she did, including her battle with cancer. Ann was the daughter of Jessie and Allan Fairley. Ann was predeceased by her father and is survived by her mother; her sister, Ella Nason (Philip); brother, Steven (Dawn Spilman); her beloved nephews, Shane Castonguay, Marc Castonguay (Nicole) and Jacob Nason, as well as her great nephews, Kyle and Brayden Castonguay. Ann is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Wendy Odell and her “second” parents, Robin and Helen Anderson who played an integral part in her life from early childhood. Ann was a devoted friend and was blessed with a group of friends who would, and often did, do anything for her – Wendy, Sarah, Bev, Jennifer, Marsha, Charlene, Jan, Kate, Janice, Alix, Ari, Kris and many more. Ann retired from her role as Vice President of the Ontario Motor Coach Association in 2013 after a successful career that brought her into contact with hundreds of people. She worked tirelessly to leave the OMCA better than she found it. She took great pride in the career that she built for herself and she treasured the many colleagues who became lifelong friends along the way. Ann was incredibly driven to do whatever she could to ensure that others did not suffer from Colon Cancer which is 90% treatable if found early. To accomplish that, she spent the last years of her life (even while terminally ill) passionately working to raise funds for a new colonoscopy machine for the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. It was her fervent wish that memorial donations be made in support of this effort. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of her life will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2 pm with the Rev. Joanne Barr officiating. A reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Seymour Memorial Cemetery. A second celebration will be held in Toronto at a later date. The family wish to extend their gratitude to the medical staff who cared for Ann during her illness. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Foundation (Colonoscopy Machine)http://www.chalmersfoundation.com/get-involved/donations. Donations may be made through York Funeral Home. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
