Obituary of LeRoy Toon

The passing of LeRoy “Roy” Toon of Fredericton, NB, husband of Norma (Merrill) Toon occurred on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at York Care Centre. Born on April 29, 1923 in Tay Valley, NB he was a son of the late William and Edith Lillian (Mayne) Toon. Roy was a retired shipping clerk with James S. Neill and later with Bud Bird. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Roy was also a “Jack of All Trades”. In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his daughter, Wendy Rolland of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roy was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Somerville; brothers, James and Gerald Toon; half brother, Walter Mayne. There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3 pm with Rev. Peter Thomas officiating. Interment will take place in Taymouth Community Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, Gibson Memorial United Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
