Obituary of Agnes Davies

November 1, 1924-April 12, 2017 The passing of Agnes Davies of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late William Jay Davies occurred on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Frederick Hall, Shannex. Agnes was born in Liverpool, England on November 1, 1924 the daughter of the late William and Emma Brookfield. She volunteered to work in the Women’s Land Army during WWII and was just over 21 when she came to Canada as a War Bride. She only knew her husband and his sister when she arrived but made many friends over the years and grew to call Canada her home. She was an avid member of the Fredericton War Brides and Overseas Clubs. Agnes always had a smile and positive thought for all, and loved her cup of tea and glass of wine. Agnes is survived by her three children, Penny (Wayne), John (Sandy) and Bill (Joanne); six grandchildren, Kerri and Michael, Michelle and Jessica, Garrett and Parker; five great grandchildren, Kayden and Chase, Olivia, Diana and Ella; her nieces and nephew. Besides her loving husband of 59 years, William, she was predeceased by her sister, Betty and brothers, Bill and Eddie. A Memorial Service in Agnes Davies memory will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11am with Rev. Paul Ranson officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery, 75 Main Street, Fredericton, NB. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Agnes are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or the charity of the donor’s choice.
