Obituary of Arthur William Stewart

The passing of Arthur William “Sonny” Stewart of Fredericton, NB, husband of Clara (Porter) Stewart occurred on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 15, 1930 in Taymouth, NB, he was the son of the late Arthur and Cecile Stewart. Sonny joined NB Tel in 1948 and worked there until he retired in 1988. He was a past member of the Flying Club, he and his brother Clifford built and flew Gyrocopters. Sonny loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. His life long hobby was motor mechanics, he enjoyed to work in his garage and fix anything with a motor for family and friends. Tay Valley where he was born remained a special place in Sonny’s heart. In the last view years, he discovered the joy of spending time with his great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Debra Leveque (Cam) and Ellen Stewart (Leonard MacKenzie); grandchildren, Mallory Flowers (Keith Whipple), Keri Flowers (Josh Parsons) and Derek Flowers (Jenny Paul); great grandchildren, Brayden, Jakub and Jack; brother, Stephen Stewart (Judy); he will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn; brothers, Edward, Lawrence and Clifford, and step mother, Glen. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 2-4 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Marysville Baptist Church on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Peter Sherwood officiating. Interment will take place in Marysville Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Fredericton SPCA or the Marysville Baptist Church.
