Obituary of Christopher Brewer

It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the sudden passing of Christopher “Chris” Darren Brewer on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, husband of Tammi Phipps Brewer. Chris was born on May 7, 1966 in Fredericton, NB. Chris was the son of Minard “Mike” Brewer and the late Carolyn (Hawkins) Brewer. For the past several years, he was employed with Horizon Health as a Security Officer. On May 20, 2014, Chris was honoured with the “IHSSF Medal of Valour”, given in recognition for his selfless and courageous act while on duty and placing his own life at risk. This was Chris, always there when needed, and never having to be asked upon, just showing up, and never taking “no” for and answer. Although a very private man, Chris’ family was his pride and joy, and never missed a chance to brag and speak of them. To him, they were his biggest accomplishment in life, and he loved them dearly. The most loyal of friends, most loving father and husband, Chris will be forever missed by all whose life he has touched. Chris loved his career, but also had a strong passion for collecting antiques, racing motorcycles, studying police sciences, and mastering his gun skills. In addition to his father, Chris is survived by his loving wife of 21 years and best friend, Tammi, and his two wonderful children, Leia and Chase; one brother, Tim (Leigh-Ann); very special aunt, Sharon Ames; aunts and uncles, Mike and Judy Millard, Jan and Lowell Hawkins; several other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers in law. Chris was predeceased by his mother and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 12-2 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. Acting Honourary Pallbearers will be Chris Pollock, Laurin Trembath and Roy Belknap, three men Chris considered brothers, and affectionately referred to as “his three amigos”. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Autism Society.
