Obituary of Garnet Thomas

The passing of Garnet Leslie Thomas of Stanley, NB, husband of Edna “Rowena” Needle occurred on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at home. Born on June 8, 1932 in Tay Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Frank and Alma (MacKinnon) Thomas. He was a mill worker. Garnet enjoyed caring for horses. In addition to his wife, Garnet is survived by his step-daughter, Rhonda Price; step son, Gerald Price; step-grandchildren, Alison Stewart, Devon Van Horne (Trianda Fox), Steven Elliott (Courtney) and Brooke Elliott; step-great-grandchildren, Austin and Logan Broad, Willa Van Horne, Deacon and Dallas Elliott; sisters, Dorothy Boone (Allen), Evelyn MacKinnon, Ellen Harris (Guy) and Bonnie Thomas (Claude Peterson); brother, David Thomas (Kathy); sisters-in-law, Doreen and Ann Thomas; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Jack and Carl Thomas. A Funeral Service will be held at Cardigan United Church on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2 pm with Mr. Wally Ellis DLM officiating. Interment will take place in Cardigan United Church Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the special care workers who helped with Garnets care while he was at home; Geraldine, CJ and James, as well as the Extra Mural staff for all of their support.
