Obituary of Evelyn DeWitt

The passing of Evelyn “Eve” Sylvia DeWitt of Fredericton, NB, wife of Brian DeWitt occurred on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on November 3, 1935 in Lumsden, NL she was the daughter of the late Morley and Grace (Parsons) Elliott. Eve worked as a Correctional Officer with the Department of Justice. In addition to her husband, Eve is survived by her children, Kim Elliott, Sharon Fowler, April Peckford (Gerry), Tina Benedetto (Gary), Eva Teets (Randy) and Michael Benedetto (Dawn); grandchildren, Colby Dawn and Jason Peckford, Lisa Benedetto, Ashley Phillips, Jessica and Makayla Benedetto and Sarah Whitlock; great grandchildren, Kyle, Cassidy and Savannah; special thanks to Eves caregiver, Heather for her compassion and care. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Crystal Peckford; great grandson, Jackson Peckford and brother, Gordon Elliott. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 2-4 pm. A Memorial Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton or the Salvation Army.
