Obituary of Alan Wilson

The passing of Alan “Al” Horace of Fredericton, NB, husband of Mona (MacPhail) Wilson occurred on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born on September 11, 1941 in Forest Hill, NB, he was the son of the late Horace and Myrtle (Steeves) Wilson. Al was an engineer and worked for NB Power for 32 years. He was involved with the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and was a Session and Board of Trustees Member. He was also involved in the Epsilon Y’s Men’s Club and a lifetime member of APENB. He enjoyed woodworking, car repairs, hockey, softball and truck driving. Al took great pride in his family, and took pleasure in the next generations’ accomplishments whether it be in education, sports or the giving of themselves for others. In addition to his wife, Alan is survived by daughter, Deborah Durelle, sons, Ronald Wilson (Heather) and Philip Wilson (Janet); grandchildren, Katie Keddy (Philip), Blaine Wilson (Erin), Rachel Brown (Travis), Jacqueline Durelle , Tanner and Kali Wilson; great grandchildren, Charlie and Ben Keddy, Ellie Wilson, Austin and Stephen Brown, Riley Durelle-Schmidt and Arya Mead; sister, Barbara Carroll (Donald). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his aunts and uncles, Harold and Mildred Steeves, Cecil and Jessie Steeves, Lorne and Myrtle Steeves, George and Mabel Steeves and Talmadge Wilson. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Wendy MacWilliams officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
