Angel Pond

Obituary of Angel Pond

Life Legacy It is with heavy hearts that the family of Angel Pond announce her passing on Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born November 4th, 1961. In her lifetime she earned numerous degrees, her B.A from St Thomas, her B.Ed. from the University of Maine and her Masters of Education from UNB. She taught at the Beach lands School in New Zealand before returning to Fredericton to pursue her Masters part time. During this time she also taught a Jr Kindergarten class at the Preschool Centre. She loved teaching and cherished all of the children whose lives she touched. After obtaining her Masters of Education, she once again left Fredericton to teach exceptional learners in Beaufort, North Carolina. This was not just a job to Angel, it was her life. Nothing, besides her family, meant more to her than helping young children develop a lifelong love of learning. While teaching in Beaufort, Angel won numerous merit awards for her innovative approach to teaching, her dedication to the children, and her ability to look at each child’s strengths and find their individual style of learning. She created extracurricular programs for at risk children in the community and ran the school newspaper. When she left Beaufort, she donated hundreds of her cherished books to the Tiller School. Each and every day those children open books from the library with Angel Pond written neatly in the top right hand corner. She loved this – her humble legacy beyond her family. She leaves behind her brothers, Joey and Ashley Pond as well as her mother, Mary; her brother, Randy; her sister-in-law and friend, Tracey, and all of her wonderful nieces and nephews, Jennifer DeWolfe (Scott), Bradley, Dustin, Jordyn, Chris, Harrison, Karlie, Brittney and Joshua Pond, as well as her much loved great nephew and niece, David and Emily DeWolfe; her special furry family of Scout, Casey, Huck, Jax and Dewey. She loved all her “pups.”; her uncles Stewart and Dougie, as well as “Poppa” (Ron Law), who were very special to her and her many cousins. Angel was predeceased by her loving father, Dale and her infant sister, Lisa. It is this family that have been Angels’ lifeline since her Alzheimer’s diagnosis 8 years ago. She has enjoyed every aspect of their lives, sporting events, birthdays, graduations, family reunions and of course family dinner each Sunday. Throughout her long and difficult journey over the past few years, there have been many special people that have brightened her way. Her wonderful neighbors, Doris and Faith, all the kind and supportive staff at the Preschool Centres, her friend and caregiver, Erin Sparkes, Dr. Feltmate, Melissa and Gina, from the Healthy Aging Clinic, Dr. Achala Pond, Chris, Lindsay and Haley from Paradise Villa and finally the compassionate nurses on 4NW. We have all been truly blessed to have had her in our lives. It was once said that the greatest of all God’s blessings is to love and be loved in return. This was Angel’s greatest achievement. There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 6 pm with Father Monte Peters officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the Preschool Centre.
