Obituary of Alan Van Wart

Van Wart, R. Alan The passing of Alan Van Wart of Fredericton NB, husband of Ann (McElman) Van Wart, occurred on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 22, 1944 in Fredericton, NB he was the son of the late Dr. Arthur and Elsie Van Wart. Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a longtime friend to many. Alan enjoyed golfing, boating, hunting & fishing, and relaxed by reading and playing piano. His favorite place to be was spending time and enjoying the company of family and friends at Robertson’s Point. Ann and Alan have benefited from the help and support of extended family and friends. For over 40 years Alan was a business owner in Fredericton and developed a strong network of colleagues whom he considered family. Alan was a supporter of many charities and service organizations, including the Y.M.C.A., Rotary Club of Fredericton, Pine Grove Nursing Home, Ducks Unlimited, Real Estate Boards locally, provincially and nationally. In addition to his wife Ann, Alan is survived by his children, Stephen Van Wart (Stacey), Heather Connolly (Dr. Stephen), and Andrew Van Wart (Shuyi Hou “Susy”); grandchildren, Jonathon, Evan and Abigayle Van Wart, Michael, Erin and Laura Connolly, and Anna, Marina and Aidan Van Wart; brother, Dr. Arthur Van Wart (Isobel). Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5-8 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, 224 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Richard Bowley officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Pine Grove Nursing Home or the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
