Obituary of Jim Morton
The passing of Jim Morton of Fredericton, NB, husband of Elsie (Luckett) Morton occurred on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Veterans Health Unit, Fredericton, NB. Born on November 16, 1921 in Scotland, he was the son of the late Morris and Janet (Dunlop) Morton. Jim served with the Engineers in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during WWII, receiving the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Clasp, after his service he became a carpenter.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughter, Nancy Norquay (John) of Fredericton, NB; sons, Larry Morton (Margaret) of McLeod Hill, NB and William Morton (Alice Allain) of Douglas, NB; grandchildren, Jay Morton (Stacey), Kelly Cyr (Rob), Sylvie Morton (Jeff Mott), Rodney Norquay (Cary) and Christine Hickey; seven great grandchildren, Marcus, Sophie, Kate, Luke, Madelyn, Elyse and Max; three step great grandchildren, Olivia, Kate and Madelyn; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Nancy Peterson and Ellen McIntyre; brothers, Andrew, Morris, William and Robert.
There will be no visitation by request. A private graveside service will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB at a later date. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Veterans Health Unit (Priestman Unit) for their care and kindness shown to Jim.
