Obituary of Alberta Shannon

It is with great sadness that the family of Alberta Coretta (Price) Shannon announce her passing on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born September 23, 1939 in Doaktown, NB, she was the daughter of Frank and Iris (Austin) Price. She was a member of Olivet Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her husband, Keith Shannon; one grandson, Brandon and his wife Sarah and two darling great grandsons, Liam and Jayden of Moncton, NB; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wishart of Fredericton, NB; two brothers, Sherman (Anne) Price of Fredericton, NB and Ronnie (Nancy) Price of New Bandon, NB; chosen brother, Malcolm (Laverne) Brewer of Dartmouth, NS; two sisters-in-law, Lynn Price of Nashwaak Bridge, NB and Lillian (Price) Russell of Doaktown, NB; special aunt, Gertrude (Douglas) Price of Fredericton, NB; three brothers-in-law, Perley Price of Priceville, NB, Dale (Becky) Shannon of Dorchester, NB and Galen Shannon of Hartland, NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Alberta was predeceased by her two children, Novalee Anderson and Terry Shannon; two infant brothers, Herby and Buddy; brothers, Darrell and Willis Price; sister, Marilyn Price; sister-in-law, Elaine Price; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Mary Grace Price; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Maud Austin; special aunt, Edith (Atherton) Doak. Alberta enjoyed listening to music, reading and knitting of which she gave to family and friends. She began her career in Toronto, ON working in the office of the Reliable Toy Co. returning to Fredericton; she worked at the Victoria Public Hospital working her way up to Food Service Supervisor in the Diet Office. She left there to work at Dari Shoppes Ltd. doing the bookkeeping for 10 convenience stores. After their closure, she worked for K&L Refrigeration Ltd. until her retirement in 2009. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed it very much. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm A Memorial Service will take place at Crosspoint Wesleyan Church on Saturday, January 21 , 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Mel Norton officiating. Interment will take place in Olivet Wesleyan Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Olivet Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
