Obituary of Amber Staples

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Amber Mary Staples of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Leon Eugene Staples announces her passing on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at York Care Centre. Born on May 21, 1927 in Zealand, NB, she was the daughter of the late James and Edith (Brewer) Guiggey. Amber dearly loved children and babies. She loved life and as a homemaker, was always baking special treats and canning pickles. She loved country music and family get togethers as family was important to her. Amber is survived by her son, Michael Staples (Debby); grandchildren, Shawn Staples (Lisa) and Kara Staples (partner, Brad); great grandchildren, Madelynn and Olyvia Staples; sister, Ethel Staples; brothers, Floyd Guiggey (Lillian) and John Guiggey (Lillian); several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Yvonne Staples; four sisters, Almina Brewer, Violet Morehouse, Gladys Morehouse and Nellie Marquis and a brother, Wilmot Guiggey. The family wishes to express as special thank you to the various staff members of York Care Center who assisted Mom and Gram through the past few years and provided her with such loving and comforting care. Special thanks also to Pastor Peter for his comforting presence at this difficult time. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time by request. A graveside service will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
