Obituary of W. Catherine Palmer
The death of Winifred Catherine “Cappy” Palmer occurred on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home in Boiestown, NB.
Cappy was the daughter of Hedleigh and Bertha (Calhoun) McCloskey. She was predeceased by her brothers Vincent and Darrell; her husband Stan Hurley and husband Berne Palmer. She is survived by her six daughters: Bertha (Bob) Bergin, Elaine (Doug) Hurley-Wilson, Dianne (Kirk) Lyons, Maureen Palmer (Billy), Lynn (Folke) Johansson and Lori (Gary) Wedge. Also, grandchildren Lisa and Barry Calhoun, Geoffrey, Nolan and Ryan Pickerill, Stephen and Luke Estey, Julie Benjamin, Stephanie Lyons, and Patricia Johansson; also step -grandchildren Tony, Terry and Travis Bergin. In addition, six great -grand children, as well as nieces and nephews.
Cappy died peacefully in Boiestown after a long and generous life; she was 95. Cappy was a homemaker, raising her girls, and for many years she was the caregiver for her mother. She enjoyed her large extended family and she had a multitude of friends in Boiestown and elsewhere. She loved to travel, to meet people and explore new places.
She was a faithful member of St. Joachim’s Church and the Altar Society was one of her good works. She was totally devoted to her parish and served in many ministries, from flower arranging and decorating to serving Holy Communion.
Visitation will be held at St. Joachim’s Church in Boiestown on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 3-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 1 pm with Father Godwin Kalu and Father Doug McNeill officiating.
