Obituary of Colleen LeBlanc
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Colleen (Hollis) LeBlanc announces her passing on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She left this world in the same way she lived it - surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends.
Colleen is survived by her loving husband, Roland, while her spirit lives on in her two beautiful, much loved children, Brian and Danielle. She was the pride and joy of her parents, Graeme and Glenda Hollis, and a much loved sister to Greg (Pam), Kevin (Heather) and Carolyn (Dennis). She adored her niece and nephews, Mallory, Derek, Dakota, Jake, Noah, and Evan, and spent as much time as she could with them, usually dragging them off the couch to join her in a hike or a bike ride. She had a special place in her heart for her in-laws, Cam and Ron LeBlanc, who loved her like a daughter. Colleen also had a special bond with her grandmother, Hilda Hollis, and always made time to visit her.
Colleen had a number of special friends who were like family to her. She took great comfort in knowing that they would be there for her husband and children after she was gone. Special thanks to Kathy Warren for being there for Colleen and all of her family throughout her illness.
Colleen was predeceased by both of her grandfathers, Fernando Nowlan and Henry Hollis, as well as her grandmother, Sarah Nowlan. She was also predeceased by uncles, Fraser Hollis and Borden Hollis.
Colleen grew up in New Maryland where she developed friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime. She had a great love of the outdoors and spent every moment she could with family and friends. She enjoyed hiking, biking, camping, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing and could be found outdoors in all seasons. If Colleen had a choice to be indoors or out, she would always choose to be outside.
Colleen worked hard all through school and it paid off when she achieved her dream career in physiotherapy. She truly loved her work, her patients and her co-workers. She was a graduate of UNB and Dalhousie University and was a lifelong learner. She was always looking for new ways to help her clients; however, her greatest gift to them was the love and care she put into her work. It was more than a job to her; it was her calling.
Colleen was a faithful member of St. Theresa’s Parish and enjoyed the comfort and spiritual guidance the church and her fellow parishioners provided.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive in Fredericton. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11 am at St. Theresa’s Parish, 1 William St in Fredericton with Father John Jennings as celebrant.
