Obituary of Donald Dean

Life Legacy The passing of Donald Bruce Dean of Lower Queensbury, NB, husband of Pamela (Williams) Dean occurred on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 25, 1951 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of Dorothy (Hooper) Dean and the late Chester Aubrey Dean. Don retired from NB Power in 2005, with 31 years of service. Don thoroughly enjoyed his job and would often comment he was proud to have worked for such a good company. Upon his retirement, Don’s hobby was spending countless hours working in his garage on used automobiles, and various outdoor equipment. He was happiest when he was up to his elbows in grease and everything he worked on was referred to as “junk”. He enjoyed the challenges of making something work properly and truly believed if it ran on gas he could fix it. He dabbled in buying and selling these items and was always looking for the next good deal. Don was a man of few words but always eager to help others and was not a stranger to generosity. He was known to many of his friends as “Deano” a nickname he inherited from his childhood friend John “Jack” VanWart. Don valued his longtime friendship with John Sullivan of Grand Manan, Sterling Dorcas, Ken Jordan, John A. Morrison and Dwight MacFarlane, along with many others, too numerous to mention. In addition to his mother and wife, Don is survived by his sisters in law, Sonja Breau (Joe) and Sally Hovey (Lance) both of Fredericton, NB; brother in law, Deryck Williams (Brenda) of Grand Bay, NB; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating, immediately followed by a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Don’s life at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive from 3-6 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Fredericton Hospice or the Extra Mural Program. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
