Life Legacy
The passing of John Leonard Reilly of Stanley, NB, husband of Helen (Hood) Reilly occurred on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Oromocto Public Hospital, with his son, Barry at his side and his family in his heart. Born on July 28, 1936 in Bloomfield, PEI, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Gallant) Reilly. John was a self employed carpenter; in his younger years he worked in the woods as a lumberjack, he also ran a skidder crew, owned a gas station and worked as a mechanic. Together John and Helen owned and operated a bakery for several years in Stanley. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Patty Reilly of Stanley, NB; sons, Brad Reilly (Linda) of Stanley, NB, Barry Reilly (Marilyn) and Randy Reilly (Dori) both of Fredericton, NB; foster children, Rita, Allen, Jason and Deanna; grandchildren, Trudy Ward (Jody), Rodney Reilly (Marsha), Jessica Reilly (Brad), Amanda Reilly (Matt), Patrick Reilly and Allyson Reilly; great grandchildren, Ashley Reilly-Ward, Haley Ward, Tommy Rogers, Jenna Rogers, Gavin Wedge, Carliegh VanHorne, Kypton VanHorne and Triston Reilly-Humble; step grandchildren, Kelley Norrad, Aryn White and Stephen Rose (Ashley); step great grandchildren, Alya Rose and Elliot Rose; brother, Ray Reilly of Burlington, ON; daughter in law, Hilda Reilly; numerous nieces nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Jan Noseworthy, Ida Barrett and Lillian Stewart; brothers, Art, Albert, Austin, Herman and Ed Reilly.
A Memorial Service will take place in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Stanley, NB on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Bonita LeBlanc officiating. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Cross Creek, NB. Honouary Pallbearers will be Brady Moore, Larry Fraser, Patrick Flynn, Joseph Simpson, Bob Armstrong, Arthur Merrill and Jon Soderman. The family wish to express a special thanks to Dr. Doyle, Dr. Brown, nurses and staff of the Oromocto Public Hospital and especially, Brianna, Micheline and Debbie for their care, kindness and compassion during John’s stay. As well the family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Upper Nashwaak Outreach Program for the superior care they provided John, which enabled him to remain at home until the end, special thanks to Susan, Sarah, Trevor, C.J., Janet and others, your kind help will always be remembered.
