Obituary of Albert Barton
The passing of Albert Roy Barton of Fredericton, NB occurred on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. He was born on March 5, 1928 in Devon, NB to Roy and Eva (Appleby) Barton. He was a lifelong resident of Fredericton and part-time resident of Dunedin, Florida during his 'snowbird years'. Albert worked for various provincial government departments before retiring after 40 years. He believed in giving back to his community through volunteering and in his younger years was very active with the Kinsmen & Scouts Canada and later with both the Canadian & American Red Cross. Albert was an avid bowler in the Nashwaaksis Seniors Bowling League.
Albert was a loving husband, father, grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Laura-Maia Wright (Michael) and their children, Kayla, Vanessa, Avery and Chelsey of Fredericton, Holly Tucker (David) and their children, Olivia and Madeline of Oak Bay, who provided the love and support to him especially through his later years, as well as his loyal companion and friend was his cat Squawkie.
Special thank-you to the staff at 4SE and the palliative care unit at the DECRH as well as his home support staff, Debbie and John; and to Flemming who dad considered a friend and always had a kind word.
A Graveside Service will be held at Douglas Rural Cemetery on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the Canadian Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
