Obituary of Wendy Melnick

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of the love of my life, Wendy Jean Melnick of Douglas, NB, after a short but courageous second battle with cancer. Wendy left this earth to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 7, 1954 in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Anne (Kempton) Lowe. In addition to her husband David, Wendy is survived by her sons, Rick Melnick (Bev) of St. John’s, NL and Dwayne Melnick (Lesley) of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Rhys, Chloe, Ashley and Katherine; sisters, Crystal Stadling (Hans) of Middle Sackville, NS, Pam Sargent-Hammer (Gerrit) of The Head of St. Margaret’s Bay, NS and Nancy Parsons of Bedford, NS; brothers, Mike Lowe (Marion) of Kentville, NS, Leonard Lowe (Karen) of Hopewell, NS and Phillip Lowe of Fall River, NS; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother in law, Chester Parsons. Wendy demonstrated her love of children through her service as an Educational Assistant, for many years, with School District 18. As a member of the congregation of Douglas Baptist Church, Wendy served on the worship team, ladies choir, various community outreach programs and children’s programs. “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Wendy’s life will take place at Douglas Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Fredericton SPCA or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
