Obituary of Ruth Nowlan
The passing of Ruth Elizabeth Nowlan of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Carl “Manny” Nowlan occurred on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 21, 1936 in Perth Andover, NB, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Hatheway) Hartley. She worked at Howard Johnson in her younger years. Ruth loved her family, enjoyed shopping, doing crossword puzzles, watching old TV shows and listening to country music.
Ruth is survived by her son, Frederick Nowlan of Fredericton, NB; daughters, Alice Doiron of Fredericton, NB, Ada Hayes (Orick) of Kingsley, NB and Nellie Crossman (Jerry) of Noonan, NB; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters, Marie Murphy (Mike), Judy Sargefield, Bonnie Smith and Joyce Smith (Dalton); several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her
daughter, Aletha Nowlan; son, Donald “Bucky” Nowlan; grandchildren, Bradley and Joseph Hayes; sisters, Anita Holmes, Vada Johnston, Sharon Lovely, Linda Lovely and Margaret Lovely.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 12-2 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Rev. Todd McGuire officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery.
