Obituary of Charles Bruce
The passing of Charles Wesley Wardlow Bruce of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Margaret (Mitton) Bruce occurred on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on October 21, 1936 in Taxis River, NB, he was the son of the late Berton and Emma (Conroy) Bruce. He retired as the Computer Service Manager with Digital Equipment. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Boiestown, NB, of Scottish Rite and Luxor Shrine. Charles enjoyed all outdoor sports, including biking, fishing and canoeing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and watching the Toronto Blue Jays.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Lori Bruce and Tammi Bruce both of Fredericton, NB; brother, Bryce Bruce (Meta) of Taxis River, NB; very special sisters in law; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Audrey Hicks. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Pearl MacBean, Florence MacDonald, Eileen Lyons, Thelma MacKenzie and Elizabeth Moir; brothers, Lorne, David and Hugh Bruce.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 7-9 pm. Members of the Landmark Lodge #51 are asked to assemble at the funeral home for a Masonic Tribute at 6:45. A Memorial Service will take place at New Maryland United Church on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Kelly Burke officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Luxor Shriners Transportation Fund or Camp Goodtime.
