Obituary of Nora Lovegrove

The Family of Nora A. Lovegrove are sad to announce her passing at York Care Centre on August 5, 2016. Nora was born in Stanley on December 8, 1919. She was the daughter of the late John Clarkson and Alice (Allaby) Clarkson and wife of the late Elwin R. Lovegrove who passed away in 1993. Nora spent her younger years in Stanley. Her summers were spent with her many cousins in Stanley, Napadogan and McAdam. The Second World War brought change for many and Nora travelled to Hamilton, Ontario where she was employed as a Munitions Worker. She returned to Fredericton with the end of the War and Elwin’s return from Overseas and they were married on January 23, 1946. Elwin and Nora moved to the Dobie in 1948 and Nora lived there until her move to Nashwaaksis in July 2013. Nora was a member of Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church. She was always interested in travelling and she did enjoy a couple of trips to Europe, a trip to Western Canada and several trips to Florida, but for the most part she always found more than enough to keep her busy in Fredericton. She was active with the Devon Seniors, the Stepping Stones, the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Group of Corbett, Wheels to Meals and numerous Walking Groups, which allowed her to enjoy a great circle of Friends. Nora loved Shuffleboard, enjoyed her exercise group at the Kinsmen Centre, enjoyed the outdoor concerts during the summer months, belonged to a Bowling Team for many years and took part in the Epsilon Summer Games. Nora was also a great knitter and her family always looked forward to Grammie’s mittens at Christmas. Nora is survived by three daughters, Judy Banks, Susan Thomson (Gary) and Janet Lovegrove. Seven Granddaughters, Susan Allen (Kurt), Jodie Shannon (Roger), Vicki Lanteigne (Steve), Christina Lovegrove Thomson, Michelle Lovegrove Thomson, Liane Lovegrove Thomson and Lyndsay Lovegrove Jones (Jeremy Caldwell). Ten Great Grandchildren, Jake, Jordan and Taylor Lynn Allen, Zach and Elizabeth Shannon, Abby, Kara and Maya Lanteigne, and Jones and Poppy Caldwell. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Nora was predeceased by her sister Mary Murphy (Vaughn) and her brothers Murray and James (Sally) and son-in-law; Larry Banks. There will be no Visitation or Funeral Service but a Graveside Service will take place at the Burtt’s Corner Community Cemetery on Saturday August 6, 2016 at 4 pm with Pastor Normand McDonald officiating. For those who wish an expression of sympathy, remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. With warmth and appreciation, the family wishes to thank all of those in her 2nd family at the York Care Centre. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
