Obituary of Dale Bird

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Coburn Bird of Burtts Corner, NB. Dale passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Friday, July 29, 2016. He was born on October 4, 1936 in Birdton, NB he was the son of the late Winslow and Edna (Coburn) Bird and beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth (McAllister) Bird. In addition to his wife, Dale is survived by his sons, Andrew (Cheryl) of Fredericton, NB, Michael (Elizabeth) of Burtts Corner, NB, and Milton (Sharon) McAllister of Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Dennis (Izumi), Matheson, Delaney, Zayne, Nicholas (Aundrea), Pierce and Kendra; great grandchildren, Aviana, Ethan and Zoie; brother, Donald Bird of Burtts Corner, and Gordon Bird (Jannette) of PEI; sisters-in-law, Alice and Joyce Bird; several nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends. Besides his parents, Dale was predeceased by brothers, Willis and William “Bill” Bird; sister, Jean Sliming (Jack); sister-in-law, Helen Bird and a very special aunt (Aunt Evie). Dale worked and met (Mary) the love of his life at the Cabin Restaurant, while working as a cook in 1958. They were married in 1960. Dale later worked at NB Power moving to tractors and equipment where he retired in 1995. Dale was one of the founding and life members of the Burtts Corner Lions Club; he was also one of the founding members of the Keswick Valley Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved reading on the porch. Although there will be no visitation, a Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Chapel on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Lloyd Taylor officiating. Interment will take place at the Burtts Corner Community Cemetery at a later date. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Bryan Crouse, Floyd MacNeill, Kyle Jones, Vance Jones, Allen Brewer, Sandford Haines and all the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Children’s Library at the Keswick Valley School, Burtts Corner. Personal condolences may be made through www.yorkfh.com
