Obituary of Mabel O'Donnell

The passing of Mabel Marguerite O’Donnell of New Bandon, NB, wife of the late Doyle O’Donnell occurred on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 29, 1918 in Carroll’s Crossing, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and May (Handley) O’Donnell. Mabel enjoyed 35 years of teaching in several schools in New Brunswick. She was a life member of NB Women’s Institute and in earlier years volunteered with Adult Literacy and at the Boiestown Woodsmen Museum. Mabel was an avid knitter, she loved to read and do crosswords. Mabel is survived by her daughters, Gloria and Wilma; son, Harold; step son, Melvin Pender (Joan); grandchildren, Amy O’Donnell, Sarah O’Donnell and Kate O’Donnell; great granddaughter, Logan O’Donnell-Caplin; brother, Gilbert O’Donnell (Carol); sisters in law, Zelda, Martha, Monna and Olive O’Donnell; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mabel was predeceased by an infant son; sisters, Mildred Clowater, Elmina Cook and Doris Stewart; brothers, Eric and William O’Donnell. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, New Bandon, NB on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 6-9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, NB on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Kevin Stockall officiating and Mark Moir assisting. Interment will take place in New Bandon Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Anglican Parish of Ludlow and Blissfield or the charity of the donor’s choice.
