Obituary of Stillman Cameron
Rev. Stillman Eugene Cameron passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on July 9, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Ethel (Cochrane) Cameron for 60 years, and loving Father of daughter, Nancy of Fredericton, NB, son, Glenn (Crystle) of Niagara Falls, ON, granddaughter, Valerie (Kevin) Oliveira of Mt. Albert, grandson, Stephen (Megan) of Toronto, great grandson, Quinn Oliveira.
Stillman was the son of the late James and Lottie (Green) Cameron Shaw and was born on July 21, 1932 in Black’s Harbour, NB. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Albert Shaw, he was predeceased by four sister's, Mildred (Fred) Goodeill, Marjorie (Perry) Stewart, Leah Campbell, childhood sister, Ruth Cameron, his brother, Murray, brothers-in-law, Fred Goodeill, his wife’s parents, Chester and Christian Cochrane, and 2 brothers-in-law, Richard Cochrane and Perry Stewart.
For 32 years Stillman served as a highly esteemed and deeply loved Pastor of the Wesleyan Church in Sussex, Perth-Andover, Saint John, Truro N.S., and Woodstock. In later years he shared in the Ministry of the Church of the Nazarene as well as a teaching ministry at Brunswick St. Baptist Church. His love of the Word, his caring heart and inspirational singing were all gifts he used to bless and enrich his ministry.
In addition to his immediate family he is survived by his sister-in-law Patricia Cochrane, as well as cherished nieces, nephews and cousin of the Cameron and Cochrane families.
A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T.Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11am, under the direction of Rev. Mel Norton. Following the service there will be a reception and a time of fellowship and sharing with the family. There will be a private graveside service at Olivet Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association of NB or a charity of the donor’s choice.
