Obituary of Leo Currie

Life Legacy The passing of Leo Wesley Currie of Fredericton, NB, husband of Hazel (Maroney) Currie, occurred on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born on September 18, 1925 in Douglas, NB, he was the son of the late Roy and Lena (Crouse) Currie. Leo was a retired school bus driver for District 18. He was a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Fredericton Seniors Workshop. In addition to his loving wife, Hazel, of 64 years, Leo is survived by his daughters, Annette Olsen (Jim), Sherry Moran (Wayne); sons, Hugh (Monica), Chris (Kim); seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Ring; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Wilcox, Susan Sypher and Winifred Kelly; brothers Elwood, Oscar and Darcy Currie. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 4-7 pm. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 am with Father John Jennings officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
