Obituary of Etta Carruthers

Carruthers, Etta Lewis The passing of Etta Lewis Carruthers of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Ralph Carruthers, occurred on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Parkland Shannex - Thomas Hall. Born on April 13, 1920 in Bass River, NS, she was the daughter of the late Watt and Vera (Lewis) Porter. Etta is survived by her daughter, Coleen Reid (Norman); sons, Gary (Gail), Ken (Beverly), Doug (Dale), Paul, Edward (Ellen), Lee (Sheryl), Stephen (Sandra), Garth (Diana) and Dale; 25 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant daughter Sharon Mae; great grandson, Caleb Longworth; sisters, Vivian Swan and Rita Walsh, and brother, Maynard Porter. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday, July 4, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 2 pm with Mr. Don Longworth officiating. A Reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Seymour Memorial Cemetery, Kingsley, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
